Discover this authentic French area, a hideaway off the beaten track and away from the tourist trail...

This is the true French lifestyle; restaurants full of locals serving rustic French food that are unbelievably good value set in pretty quaint villages. This is a corner of the Dordogne where restaurants are full of the locals, from workers enjoying a meal in their lunch hour to friends and families meeting up. The food is freshly cooked every day using local produce, therefore the menus change daily to include seasonal ingredients, and are not overpriced. Everyone is friendly and will try to help if you have any problems understanding the menu. Children are of course always welcome, as well as dogs.

Local village restaurants offer excellent weekend and evening menus for about 27 euros for 4 courses but the 4 course lunchtime menus (plus soup in the winter months) during the week should not be missed. A home cooked 4 course set menu only costs from 13 euros and even includes a glass of wine and coffee. Make sure you book a table as the restaurants become full very quickly with the locals. Don't forget to try the local Bergerac and Pécharmant wine, grown in the vineyards in the surrounding area, and finish off your meal with a glass of Monbazillac wine with your dessert.
